It is characterized as painless eye emergency when retina pulls off from back of the eye, it needs quick treatment to avoid permanent vision loss.

 What are the Causes of Retinal detachment?

It is of three types:

  • Rhegmatogenous :
    It is caused due to retinal tear or hole
    advanced ageing
    Vision loss due to intrupt blood supply in retinal detached area
     
  • Tractional:
    Occurs due to scar tissue on surface of retina
    Occurs in diabetic people
     
  • Exudative:
    I t occurs due to
    macular degeneration, eye injury, tumors or inflammatory disorders.

What are the Risk factors of Retinal detachment?
Above 50 years
Any eye disease

History of retinal detachment
Eye surgery in the past
